Stress and what it does to your skin.
During these difficult times, we all know how easy it is to become stressed. While sometimes it is inevitable, it’s important to find ways to relieve your stress and focus on yourself and your well-being - as stress has a lot of negative side effects. This can include dangerous effects to your heart, your brain and even your skin. Stress can cause breakouts, aggravate psoriasis, rosacea, and eczema, trigger flare-ups in fever blisters and cold sores, and even cause hives.
Stress can also cause your skin to age faster. Stress causes changes to the proteins in your skin and this can reduce your skin’s elasticity. When your skin starts losing elasticity, it can contribute to wrinkles forming. Since stress makes skin dry and itchy as well, this too plays a role in skin aging quicker.
Find ways to relax
To keep your skin looking its best, minimize avoidable causes of stress in your life, and be sure to make time for yourself. By maintaining healthy habits, staying active, and not being afraid to ask for help, you can avoid all of the serious issues that come along with stress.
