Stress is an inevitable part of life, but that doesn’t mean you have to let it control you! Now that the nice weather is rolling in, it’s time to take advantage of it and spend some time outdoors. Here are some great summertime activities to help relieve your stress, which can lead to a healthier body and mind!
1. Take a Walk Through Nature
Nature is a way for us to escape reality and enjoy the world around us. By taking a stroll or hike through a local park or hiking trail, you can relax your mind. Nature sounds are extremely peaceful and by taking an hour or two to get away from the commotion of your life, you can really relieve the stress you’ve been holding onto.
2. Try Yoga
Yoga, especially outdoor yoga, is super relaxing! Pick one night a week to take part in a yoga class and trust me, your body and mind will thank you!!
3. Meditate Outdoors
Meditation is one of the best ways to help reduce anxiety. Take a yoga mat outside to a peaceful location and let nature aid in helping you relax. Can’t find the time to make it outside? That’s okay! Go to a quiet spot in your house and meditate for 5-minutes a day to help ease anxiety.
4. Go on a Vacation
Does a sandy beach and ocean waves sound appealing to you? Or how about a cabin in the mountains with a beautiful view that’s hidden from the world? No matter what you prefer, taking a break from your normal life can reduce stress immensely. Because of the warmer weather, summer is the perfect time to take a vacation!
5. Go Camping
If you enjoy camping, consider taking a weekend camping trip to help reduce your stress. Sitting around a nice campfire and enjoying the outdoors can be a great way to take your mind off of your weekly stressors.
6. Lay by the Pool or Ocean
Water has an extremely relaxing sound, which is why it is the main sound used in many sleep, meditation, and massage soundtracks. If you have a pool, know someone who owns a pool, or are fortunate enough to live near the ocean, take some time to go lay poolside or oceanside and listen to the water while you relax your mind. Try not to focus on anything but being at peace and enjoying the moment you are in.
7. Walk the Dog
Between the cold temperatures of fall and winter, and the rain that comes with the spring, it can be hard to take your best bud out for a walk. When summer comes around, take advantage of the beautiful weather and go enjoy time with them! If you’re an animal person, you know dogs always have a way of making you smile. Pair that with some sunshine and the beauty of nature, and you’ve got yourself a relaxing activity!
8. Workout Outside
Working out is one of the best ways to reduce stress and anxiety, so of course it’s on the list! Aside from releasing endorphins, which will make you feel awesome, exercise also helps improve sleep, which also relieves stress! By taking your exercise outdoors, you’re also giving yourself a chance to enjoy the nice weather, which will help lead to a happier you!
